Thank you for taking the time to visit the Kappa Rho of Sigma Chi website. American University’s chapter of Sigma Chi now dates back more than 10 years when a small group of men decided to form an organization to better themselves and the community around them.
Since the time of our founding we have grown to over forty brothers, many of whom come from different walks of life, have varying interests and participate in many different activities. It is our different temperaments, talents and convictions that make us strong.
If you are a parent, an alumnus, a member of the AU Community, or are looking to join a Fraternity at American, there is information on this site for you, so please take some time and check it out!
Congratulations to the following men who accepted their bids to pledge the Sigma Chi fraternity: Evan Anderson, Joseph Catania, Michael Childress, Zac Deibel, Cody Ragonese and Andrew Williamson.
9.27.11 - A Message from our Sweetheart
I am honored to be the sweetheart of the Kappa Rho chapter of Sigma Chi. The brothers are motivated men of character as well as true gentlemen. They are ambitious in their academic lives and careers, but they also know how to have a good time!
One of the characteristics that I most admire about the brothers of this chapter is that all the men have diverse interests, but they share the same values. These values are what makes their bond of brotherhood so strong and unique. I am so happy to be able to represent these men as well as call them some of my best friends!
Stephanie "Steph" Cap is a sophomore in the Beta Rho Chapter of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is studying International Studies and knows how to speak five languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Polish and Elvish.
9.4.11 - The First Ever Annual Brotherhood Camping Retreat
As always, this fall marked a new beginning for Kappa Rho. The members of the Class of 2011 are all off to bigger and better things in their professional lives, and the Class of 2012 has assumed the leadership role in the Chapter. In order to mark this new beginning, we took the chapter to Cedarville, Maryland for a weekend camping expidition. For the first time in a number of years, the entire Chapter packed their bags, said goodbye to the District and headed out for an entire weekend of Friendship, Justice and Learning.
During this time we participated in team-building activities in order to bring our Chapter closer, and orient ourselves in such a way that we would be ready to tackle any challenges that came our way. Having just been back at school for a week before the retreat, the weekend provided a good way for all the brothers to reconnect and find their place in the Chapter. We also conducted a thorough Chapter planning session, in which we outlined our mission statement, vision, and goals for the year. We came away with a detailed plan for the year to bolster alumni relations, scholarship, and our fundraising for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The weekend was a huge success, leaving all the brothers in the right mindset to tackle the year. See below for some of the highlights from the trip!
